Christmas fun

We did things a little different this year..actually, alot different.  I have had a hard time feeling the Christmas spirit because it has been such an eventful year.  We bought a house and adopted a dog.  This of course is the good stuff.  Grandma died and my husband got laid off from work.  So this has been a rough holiday.  To make matters worse, Christmas Eve is my birthday and I was sad alllll day.  I decided we needed to go to church, that might lift my spirits.  And guess what??? It did!!  It was awesome.  I gave all of my sadness and worries to God.  So we went on to have an incredible Christmas Eve night with my husbands family.  We opened all of our presents except Santa which we got first thing Christmas morning.  Santa brought a full size drum set for Cade (8) and a guitar and amp for Cameron (11).  Then we had a huge Christmas breakfast with my side of the family.  We decided we didn’t want to do a large Christmas dinner this year so we skipped lunch and ate at 59 dinner for dinner before watching the movie Bedtime Stories.  It was so different from our normal exhausting, food filled and running around like crazy Christmas.  It was just what we needed!  Here are some pics…

Recession

So has the  recession touched you or someone you no?  I am willing to bet yes.  My husband was laid from AT&T, his last day will be Dec. 30th.  He has been in the telecommunications field for 12 years so I have to wonder…what now?  He is young so he has the world at his feet.  He is going back to school next semester for some more computer courses, but what is going to pay the bills at the moment?  I want him to be happy with his job and be able to pay the bills.  Not too much to ask for.  But I am getting nervous.  He has less than a week of work yet and no job to go to.  I believe that God has a purpose and I need to be faithful.  But the human side of me is definitely scared.  I know there are so many people facing the same problem right now.  My heart goes out to them.  I hope 2009 will be a better year for everyone!

New project

My hubby and kids have started a new project. Its not necessarily a new project but he is just now starting to work on it. Eight years ago my hubby bought a 1950 Ford pickup, but he hasn’t had anywhere to work on it. But, now that we are back in Houston with a garage, he figured the timing is perfect. The boys are so excited and they are the perfect age. I am hoping this will be an awesome father/son project. I’ll keep you updated on the progress. I am fairly sure it take years of work, at least I hope so.

Santa Pics

We went yesterday to take Santa pictures with my mom and sister. There are three grand kids and one on the way on my side of the family. So, for my mom’s birthday, we did Santa pics. My oldest son Cameron says he is getting too old for Santa pics. You can tell his enthusiasm in the pics. I have to laugh. He told my mom that this is his Last year. I’m sure you can tell by the pictures that my middle son is the only one who enjoyed it. My nephew thought we were toturing him, as did every child under 2. It cracks me up that we parents torture our kids every year just to get a photo of them sitting on a strangers lap. Have we all gone mad?

Not your ordinary month!

Yes, I have been mia again!  It has been an absolutely crazy month.  For one I have no access to my laptop…Yikes!  How awful is that?  Well it isn’t as awful as the 2 week stomach flu around our house.  It started the day after Thanksgiving and just recently ended.  I got it first then we dropped like flies from there.  My poor hubby got it on his 33rd birthday.  Then the first day he went back to work from his stomach flu…he got laid off.  His last day of work will be Dec. 30th.  He is apparently one of the lucky 12,000 people to get laid off by AT&T.  Yay!!!  (sarcasm, for those who don’t know me.)   So, I guess my lack of blogging has nothing to do with not having anything to say.  I have plenty to say, but until I get my computer cord back, I guess I just get to think it for now.  So Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas.  This is a great year to remember that this season is about Christ, not about who gets what from Santa!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday,  that includes Christmas.  Don’t get me wrong,  I love most holidays…but there is something different about Thanksgiving.  I love that it isn’t about presents, it is about family, being thankful for what we have, and of course you can’t forget the uptown lighting at Post Oak.  There is nothing that stirs the soul like a fireworks show that you can feel through your whole body.  I don’t think someone could have slapped the smile off my face today.  I will post a video once I get it loaded and some pics also.  I hope everyone had an awesome Thanksgiving.  Enjoy the season.

Twilight Fever

I have caught the Twilight fever! I have been quiet for a while for two reasons. I went to Dallas to see my best friend Kim. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. We had a blast. While I was there we both bought the first 3 books in the Twilight series. We couln’t put it down. I still can’t. I am on the last book and way behind on life. It is such a good series. I do recommend it, but only if you have more self control than I have. I don’t have much apparently. My family is counting the hours until I am done. They want mommy back! Oops! Anyway, back to reading. Enjoy the clip that I am posting. Kim and I are going to see movie next Saturday.

My mom, sister and I took the boys to a church last week to take these pics.

Halloween

Did everyone have fun on Halloween? Ours was good, but I missed my hubby being there. He worked until 1:30am. So at the last minute our plans changed, but we had fun anyway. My mom, sister, brother in law and all the kids went to a church fall fest. That surprisingly was alot of fun for the kids. Afterwards we went trick or treating then to Ihop. Anyway, now that I have bored you, check out our pics.
